Dormy House started life as a 17th Century Cotswold farmhouse with flagstone floors, log fires and acres of land. Some things haven’t changed, and the hotel today still has the real log fires, panelled walls and long views over the Cotswold hills.
The original house was called Willersey Hill Farm and its owners farmed the surrounding land. In the mid 1940s, the house was bought by Broadway Golf Club next door and given its new name: Dormy House. (Dormy is a term for an “unbeatable” round of golf!)
Dormy House has been in the same family ownership since 1977. In 35 years, the hotel has gone from strength to strength, building a loyal following and a reputation for excellent, personal service. Today, we are still privately owned by the same family and passionately run.
THERE’S MORE…WE ALSO HAVE TWO SISTER HOTELS DOWN THE HILL ON THE ESTATE
Dormy House is part of the stunning Farncombe Estate, 400-acres of land that spans from Broadway to the top of the famous Fish Hill. There are two other fabulous hotels that are based just down the hill that are well worth a try:
- Foxhill Manor – Simply put, Foxhill is a private manor-house hotel with eight unique bedrooms and suites. But that doesn’t quite do it justice. A Grade-II listed Arts and Crafts country home refreshed and revitalised for the 21st century, Foxhill Manor is a new type of stay: all the character and charm of a boutique-hotel hideaway, served up with heartfelt personal service and an easygoing at-home atmosphere. Trust us, you’ll love it.
- COMING SOON – The Fish – Part boutique hotel, part holiday village, part outdoor-discovery centre. A new kind of stay in the Cotswolds. A back-to-nature bolt hole with a little touch of luxury. Forty seven contemporary bedrooms, activity centre and ‘gastro-buffet’ restaurant offering an indulgent-but-affordable base to explore the outdoors and soak up the scenery.
