All the family can ride the Cotswold Hills with a guided trek from the Washpool Equestrian Centre in Stanton. There are children’s pony camps in the summer holidays

Hop aboard the fun express! Everyone enjoys an old-fashioned steam-train. You won’t know whether to watch the children’s faces or the scenic route between Laverton and Cheltenham Race Course. Toddington is your nearest stop

Keep the children entertained on the Bourton Eye Spy Mission as they follow the picture clues round Bourton-on-the-Water, while you take in the sights of this honeypot Cotswold village. Bourton is the perfect Cotswold family day out. Visit TV character Brum at the Cotswold Motoring Museum; see the parrots, penguins and flamingos at Bird Land Park and walk like a giant at the famous Model Village. Oh and if they are getting on your nerves, tell the children to “get lost” at the amazing Dragonfly Maze
Shakespeare’s Houses & Gardens
Distance from Dormy: approx 17 miles
The birthplace of William Shakespeare is still one of the heritage highlights of Britain and the museum next door really brings to life the upbringing of the Stratford Bard. A perfect all-weather activity. Not to forget Mary Arden’s Farm, a real working Tudor farm, and Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, featuring a musical trail through the woods
