NEW DATE FOR DORMY HOUSE HOTEL’S £10M REFURBISHMENT
The £10m revamp of one of the Cotswolds best-loved hotels has been rescheduled for spring 2013 to ensure ‘no compromise on quality’ during the transformation.
The Dormy House Hotel, near Broadway, had been due to close this winter for a four-month redevelopment. It will now remain open up to and after Christmas, before closing for the work in spring next year.
General Manager David Field, who has been at Dormy House for 30 years, explained the decision.
“We are a family-run hotel and customer comfort and attention to detail is at the heart of this £10m investment,” he said. “As such, we are sourcing the finest materials both locally and from further afield to achieve the quality finish we are after. We are adamant there will be no compromise on quality and we want to make sure we re-open as the best small hotel in the Cotswolds. We’d rather postpone our redevelopment until early in the New Year than settle for second-best.
“We now have the winter to look forward to at Dormy House and that’s always a fantastic time of year for the hotel.”
The four-star hotel has been open for 35 years and the transformation will see all the public spaces and most of the bedrooms refurbished and upgraded, to boost the customer experience.
The 43-bedroom hotel has its origins as a converted 17th Century farmhouse and was last year voted the second-most romantic hotel in the country by TripAdvisor. Dormy House’s relaxed, comfortable and elegant style will be retained following the redevelopment.
