Ayurvedic consultation

with Sara Palmer

60 minutesPrice: £115

Ayurvedic treatments reach way beyond the muscles, to benefit internal body systems, the mind and emotions. Using luxurious, healing medicinal oils and finely ground herbal powders, herbal pastes and poultices, body scrubs and skin nourishers, Ayurvedic treatments work to detoxify, stimulate or calm, strengthen and rejuvenate the body and mind.

Choose from four treatment options: Abhyanga, Pinda Svedana, Udvartana or Shirobhyanga and Padabhyanga.

We suggest that you book a 60 min treatment slot with Sara, who can outline and recommend the best ayurvedic treatment options for you.

Luxurious, warm herbal oils are applied to the body to reduce excess humor (dosha), detoxify the tissues, calm the mind and balance mood. An ancient therapy bringing greater equilibrium to the whole person, Abhyanga helps to reduce nervousness, anxiety, fatigue, insomnia and  stress, promoting relaxation and nourishment of the skin and deeper tissues. The treatment also helps to carry toxins from deeper tissues to the gut for elimination, to reduce aches and pains and improve overall wellbeing.

Pinda Svedana

Good for: nourishing and strengthening the body tissues, removing congestion, aiding weak joints and easing sore muscles.

Traditional herbal powders are crushed in a pestle and mortar and then tied into a muslin cloth which forms the medium for this treatment, known as a bolus in India. To start  herbalised oils, chosen for your Ayurveda type and symptoms, are applied to the body, before the bolus is used in an Ayurveda technique known as pummelling. This stimulates the body, removes sluggishness and can reduce aches and pains. The oils and herbs nourish the skin, muscles, bones and joints.

Good for: exfoliation, detoxification, aiding blood circulation, Kapha imbalance, weight loss.

A traditional Ayurveda body treatment, using ground Ayurveda herbs. Firstly, warm, aromatic herbal oils are applied to the body and then the Udvartana powder is vigorously applied. The herbal powder is rubbed over the body to help draw out impurities and reduce water retention. It stimulates, detoxifies and exfoliates the body leaving a lovely lustre to the skin surface.

Shirobhyanga and Padabhyanga
Head, foot and leg massage

Good for: stress relief, increasing energy flow and easing aches and pains.

Created to enhance vitality, stimulate blood circulation and increase overall wellbeing, the session begins with a deeply therapeutic Ayurveda head massage to wash away tensions associated with migraine, headache and neck stiffness. Warm oil, specific to your Ayurveda type is poured into the hair, aiding nourishment of the roots. The herbs in the oil calm and revitalise the spirit, while ancient massage techniques allow the body to surrender into a greater equilibrium. This part of the treatment is done in a seated position, before you lie back for a de-stressing and relaxing Ayurveda foot and leg treatment, starting with a firm massage of the lower leg, before deep pressure techniques are applied to marma pressure points in the sole of the foot.
